Director's Message

 

We are the partners in industrial progress for pulp & paper and allied industries since 1983 with the active support of the Avantha Group. The research fields are focused on improvement/ development of environment friendly processes/ products, pollution abatement and resource conservation. We have moved from single customer to multi customers based organization by reaching out to other pulp & paper mills and industries in India. The Centre is recognized by Department of Scientific & Industrial Research, Punjab Pollution Control Board and Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change. It is a NABL accredited laboratory for testing/ analysis of wastewater, pulp & paper, coal, ambient air and stack emission complying with the requirements of ISO 17025:2005 and also OHSAS 18001:2007 certified.

We have completed thirteen sponsored projects of national importance (four by Department of Science & Technology, Government of India and nine by Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India). We are pursuing on two projects sponsored by Department of Biotechnology, Government of India. The Centre is currently working in the frontier areas like bio-refinery using lignocellulosic biomass, biotechnological and nanotechnology applications in paper industry. The excellence in infrastructure and expertise in the area of our research has been well recognized. The Centre strives to achieve new R&D standards, lab to land transfer of technologies, scientific manpower development and networking with academic institutes as well as other laboratories/ industries. The Centre's contribution to research is exemplified by its quality publications in reputed international journals.  

 

The Centre has been making all out efforts to increase its 'Revenue Generation' by serving Indian paper mills, chemical/ enzyme manufacturers and renowned national & multi-national companies in the areas of testing & analysis, research and consultancy, knowledge process outsourcing. To increase our customer base further, we want to make the best use of our know-how, infrastructure and resources with the active involvement of many collaborators around us.
