The newly formed group is conducting research in the area of applications of nanotechnology and biotechnology in pulp, paper and allied industries. The projects have been submitted to Indian Paper Manufacturers Association, Govt. funding agencies and other industries for seeking financial support. The major activities include the following:

 1. Nanotechnology applications in papermaking and paper coating

 2. Bioethanol production from lignocellulosic materials

 3. Recovery of value added products from hydrolyzate

 4. In-situ modification of native starch using enzymes

 5. Drainage improvement of pulp with enzymes

 6. Enzymatic deinking of recovered paper

 7. Enzymatic treatment of waste water

 8. Lab scale production of enzymes (Fermentation)

 9. Enzyme hydrolysis of lignocellulosic materials
