- Control of filamentous organism in aerobic biological treatment process:
The effect of different parameters like pH, temperature, DO, chlorophenolic compounds, HRT, organic load, F/M ratio was studied and optimized to control the growth of filamentous organisms. |
- Handling of secondary sludge of pulp and paper industry:
The bio-sludge was dewatered up to 17-20% dryness using centrifuge as dewatering equipment. Vermicompositing of biosludge was also done after mixing it with fibrous material like saw dust, primary sludge etc. |
- Cost effective physio-chemical treatment of individual/ combined effluent streams for reduction in colour, COD, BOD and AOX:
Use of coagulants and floccluants on sectional effluent streams was found cost effective for reducing various pollutants including colour. |
- Decolourization of phosphoric acid by ozonation:
The decolourization of phosphoric acid was done in cost effective manner with the use of ozone. |
- Process development for two stage causticization for removal of silica from green liquor:
- Different parameters like reaction temperature, time, lime purity, split addition of lime, quantity of lime were optimized for getting the highest desilication of green liquor.
|
- Process development for removal of silica from black liquor:
- Different parameters like temperature, pH, silica level concentration of CO2 etc. were optimized for maximum silica removal with minimum lignin precipitation through carbonation technique.
|
- Environment assessment of paper industries:
The environmental research programme helped the industry in technology selection for improving its performance in environmental management. |
